Hello everyone. All is well here in Kazakhstan. Today two new families arrived and David and Jeannie are on their way out. They have quite a journey ahead of them with 4 children. I've said some prayers, but I'm sure all will be fine. Today has been very hot and the drive to visit Mason was quite the experience. Our driver's car broke down yesterday so we used another vehicle. Its a Niva and on the road under construction is extremely bumpy and feels like you're off roading. But, tomorrow we will have our typical car back and everything will be back to normal.

Last night Jen, Brian, Ryan, and myself babysat for Dave and Jeannie while they went to get the birth certificates for the two 5 year old twin girls they adopted. As of today, the girls are officailly theirs. I can't wait to be at that point.

Hello Everyone. It's Tuesday July 25th today and we are 6 days away from going to court for the adoption of little Nikita Mason. We are so excited and can't believe the time has come for our court hearing. We don't have many worries about court, just nerves about saying the right things and making sure not to make the judge angry. And, if we do mess up on anything, we have our translator to make sure the right things are said to the judge. Mason is fantastic and is progressing well with us. He giggles and smiles all the time and has no issues when we pick him up. We talked with our coordinator in country today who arranges all of our lodging, court dates, paperwork, etc. and she told us that we will not get custody of Mason after court. This is how it works. We go to court on the 31st. The judge approves the adoption, then there is a 15 day waiting period for the judges decision to become final. After the 15 days, we would get Masons birth certificate and everything is FINAL. Typically in the past, after court families would get custody until the 15 days was up and then start their travel home. What will happen for us is we will travel everyday to the baby house to see him. This is not ideal, but at least they didn't shut down adoptions. We just keep praying for the time to go by quickly and for us to be home with our son.

I have written each post, and Ryan really wants to write. So,after a long time of thinking about it =) I told him it was okay and today I'm going to let him, that's right, LET HIM finish up.
love ya and miss you all.

Well let's see where can i begin? our apartment is out of water AGAIN... we are going on day 2 with out water, it makes it interesting for not only showers but flushing toilets.....fun fun
one thing for sure is we will really appreciate water and electric more often, which is something we all take for granted back in the states. Well im not a person for many words as you all already know. It has been great to read emails from everyone, please keep them coming,

thanks, and take care,
look forward to being back in the states on the 23rd of august with Mason

  • Hi Guys!!!
Sounds like your busy. Hope your feeling better Rachel, and that Ryan and Mason didn't get a sore throat. It's 91. Hot. Hot and muggy. It's suppose to be this way for the rest of the week. Fortunately the rain has cooled us down at night. Joe wants me to tell Ryan that the Brewers were in a slump but bounced back winning 2 in a row. Hope the water and lights are on. Praying for your safe return.
